There is no greater priority than growing our South Georgia economy and creating jobs here. Too many kids coming up today are moving away for better opportunities. In the Senate, I will work to grow opportunity here at home. I want kids in Adel, Homerville, Valdosta, Quitman, and all across South Georgia to have the same opportunities as those in other parts of our state. I want them to be able to stay, build a career, and raise their families.
I will champion policies to grow opportunity here – whether it’s promoting the family farmer, promoting small business growth, recruiting new business, building new industry by linking technology to the field, and protecting existing drivers of our economy like our schools, Moody AFB and VSU.
We should incentivize relocation of industry and business here. Let’s start with attracting businesses from states that remain shut down and recruiting medical supply manufacturing back from China. We have the resources, people, and talent that is second to none.
And as a small businessowner, I know the struggles of small business. I will work to promote small business growth by continuing to get government – and senseless government regulation and taxes – out of our way.
Together, I know we can secure a prosperous future.
COVID-19 has shown us even more the importance of having access to affordable and quality healthcare. I can tell you government-run healthcare is not the solution. In the Senate, I will join healthcare reform efforts led by Governor Kemp to build a Georgia-focused healthcare system that lowers costs, expands coverage, and incentives affordable private insurance. I will continue working to tackle maternal mortality in the state. I will stand strong to protect our local hospitals, attract more doctors to rural Georgia, and continue the fight to lower prescription drug costs.
I have been a champion for the American family farmer. In the Senate, I will continue to fight against the influx of cheap produce from counties like Mexico. I will continue fighting to end the unfair practices of other countries and senseless regulations here at home that undercut the American farmer. We can’t afford to risk our #1 industry – especially when it feeds us. With the right focus and sound policies, we can protect and expand the agriculture industry and build new industries and jobs around it.
My wife Cara is a 3rd generation public school teacher. I know how important our teachers and public schools are to shaping the next generation and growing opportunity in South Georgia. I will be a rock-solid champion for local public schools, students, and educators. I will make our local schools get the resources they need to succeed – including vital funding, broadband, and teacher pay raises. No school, teacher, or student in our community should be at a disadvantage to those in other parts of the state.
I stand with law enforcement, and the radical ‘defund the police agenda’ is crazy and wrong. We can stand with our law enforcement to keep our families safe while ensuring fair treatment for all. I fight every day in the Senate to keep our families safe.
Moody AFB is a vital to both our local economy and our national defense. I will fight tooth and nail with our federal delegation to protect Moody.
We are fortunate to have VSU right here in our community. I will stand up in the Senate to ensure VSU is a priority in the budget and that it gets the resources we need. Additionally, I will work hard with local and state leaders to build economic opportunities that will allow our VSU graduates to remain here in our community.
Above all, my mission will be to put the people of South Georgia – not Atlanta – first.
We must expand broadband in our rural communities. By not have access to internet, it puts many of our communities at a competitive disadvantage as it relates to job creation and in education. The COVID-19 pandemic showed us first-hand the vital need to expand broadband because no South Georgia student should be at a disadvantage to students in Atlanta. I commend the work of the Legislature and Governor in recent years to address this issue but we have a long way to go. I am ready to work with state and local leaders, the private sector, and our EMC’s to expand rural broadband.
The 2nd Amendment isn’t only a Constitutional right – it’s a way of life. I will stand firm to protect our gun rights and will fight anyone that tries to take them away. Every law-abiding Georgian should always have the right to protect themselves, their property, and their loved ones.
As your Senator, there will be no question that I will stand firm to protect human life – from conception to natural death.
